There is separate dining room with multi fuel stove and fireplace. To the rear is a guest cloakroom, and steps down to the spacious lower level kitchen/diner, with space for a cooker, plumbing for dishwasher, and space for fridge/freezer. Access at the top to a detached double garage with electric door. There is a right of way across neighbouring properties, and this garage is positioned at the end.
Locality - an historic market town known as “The Gateway to the Peak District” due to its convenient location to the magnificent Peak District National Park. It is within easy access of the A50 (9 miles) which connects to the M1 & M6 motorway links. Famous for its annual Royal Shrovetide Football (dates back to 1667) which is played on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. There is a great array of amenities and facilities within a thriving town centre, which offers a plethora of individual, mainly independent shops and cafes. Ashbourne has a popular golf course on the outskirts of the town, and has the highly sought after secondary school of Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School (QEG’s) which serves Ashbourne and the surrounding Derbyshire Dales villages. There is a bus station which helps connect Ashbourne to Derby and Uttoxeter with a number of regular services, and nearby train stations at Uttoxeter and Derby & Matlock.
A note from the owner - I moved to this house 40 years ago with my late husband and three children, it’s a roomy family home. Subsequently,I’ve enjoyed the amount of space and used one bedroom as an office/study and discovered that the bedroom with the Velux window offers good light for watercolour painting! The house nowadays provides space for all my family to stay (ten of us on a good Christmas). The proximity to the town is also a great joy, I don’t need the car to post a letter, collect a take-away or do a bit of shopping.
I’m leaving to return to Warwickshire, to be nearer to some of my family, and to address the need to size-down. I’m sure I’ll miss having the space, as I will miss Ashbourne, it’s a lovely town.
