Locality - Kirk Ireton is widely regarded as one of the most charming and picturesque villages in the Derbyshire Dales. The village, predominantly composed of traditional stone properties, is set on a hillside, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Its peaceful and timeless atmosphere is enhanced by its location, nestled halfway between Ashbourne and Wirksworth, two historic market towns. A quintessential linear village, Kirk Ireton stretches along a single road, creating a quaint, village feel.
The village is ideally located near the serene beauty of Carsington Water, which lies just a short distance away, offering opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, and water sports. Kirk Ireton is seven miles from Ashbourne and 9 miles to Wirksworth.
A prominent feature of the village is Holy Trinity Church, a stunning historical building that dates back to Norman times, offering a glimpse into the village's long and rich history.
For those seeking a warm and welcoming atmosphere, The Barley Mow Inn provides a classic village pub experience. With its traditional charm, it’s a popular spot for both locals and visitors, serving delicious food and a selection of ales in a relaxed and friendly setting.
Kirk Ireton is also home to the Kirk Ireton Church of England Primary School, which is an essential hub for the village’s younger generation. The school is well-regarded for its nurturing environment, and it falls within the catchment area for Anthony Gell Secondary School in nearby Wirksworth, ensuring that children in the village have access to quality education as they grow.
The village is a hidden gem, combining the allure of historical buildings, natural beauty, and a close-knit community, making it an ideal place to call home.

Owner's perspective - "There are some houses you choose with your head, and others you choose with your heart. From the very first moment we saw this house, we knew it was the one we wanted to call home.
It wasn't an easy purchase. The house was tired, neglected, and in need of a great deal of work before it could even be lived in. But beneath the years of wear, we could see its character, its history, and the life it still had to offer. Restoring it has been a labour of love, and every improvement has been made with respect for its remarkable past.
What we have loved most, though, is the setting. The peace and quiet are something truly special. Surrounded by farmland and nature, it is a place where the seasons unfold before your eyes. The garden gently merges into wildflower-rich meadows, alive with butterflies, birds, and countless other creatures. We have been fortunate enough to record 51 different species of birds visiting here, and each one has added to the joy of living in such an extraordinary place.
This home is a beautiful blend of old and new. It has stood proudly for over 300 years, carrying generations of stories within its walls, while offering all the comforts of modern living. It has been our privilege to care for it for a while, and we have no doubt it will continue to stand for centuries to come, creating happy memories for those who follow.
Leaving this house will be incredibly difficult. It has given us peace, happiness, and a deep connection with the natural world. Although we are moving on, a part of our hearts will always remain here, and we will miss it more than words can truly express."
